Hakushu 18 Year Old Limited Edition Japanese Single Malt Whisky

The Hakushu 18 Year Old Limited Edition is a rare presentation of one of Suntorys most celebrated aged Japanese single malts, produced at the Hakushu Distillery in the forested foothills of Japans Southern Alps. The presentation is a major part of its appeal. The bottle features a transfer-printed depiction of Hakushu's mountainous forest landscape, while the pale paulownia-style wooden case continues the forest theme with decorative foliage and a transparent display panel.

A presentation booklet accompanies the bottle. Inside is Hakushu's acclaimed 18 year old single malt: elegant, mature and characteristically fresh, combining orchard fruit and honeyed sweetness with herbs, oak and Hakushu's restrained style of smoke. The distillery itself sits high in the forests of Mt.

Kaikomagatake, where Suntory uses exceptionally soft water filtered through granite, a defining part of Hakushu's distinctive "green and crisp" house character. For collectors, this is substantially more interesting than a standard bottle of Hakushu 18. The combination of the decorated bottle, original wooden display case and booklet makes it a particularly striking older Hakushu presentation.

Tasting Notes Colour: Deep amber gold. Nose: Elegant and layered, with ripe pear, orange and orchard fruit followed by honey, fresh herbs, delicate florals and mature oak. A fine thread of dry smoke develops underneath the fruit. Palate: Silky and beautifully balanced. Honey and sweet baked pastry lead into ripe fruit, gentle oak spice and leafy herbal notes, with restrained peat smoke adding depth rather than dominating.

Finish: Long and refined, with lingering fruit, honey, seasoned oak and a gentle smoky, herbal character.
